Normally we select one player but both of these players have gone above and beyond and we felt they both should be recognized.
Eli was nominated for displaying exemplary sportsmanship at the Biddeford tournament this past January. During an off-ice interaction with another team who was talking down at the talent level of some players, Eli stepped in and calmly stated that all the teams were made up great, hardworking players and this was all about having fun. Not only did Eli stand up for other teams unprovoked, the interaction was witnessed by the tournament director. Prior to a game later in the day the tournament director publicly recognized him for displaying outstanding sportsmanship. Eli is a great teammate and is well respected.
Miles has over the course of the last four years and specifically this past January dedicated countless hours to preparing care packages for troops overseas. He doesn’t want birthday presents for himself in January, he likes things to put in these packages. This year he also set up a Go Fund Me to help with the cost of preparation. His goal was $1200.00 and ended up raising $1800.00! He has made a personal impact on many stranger’s lives some of whom have contacted him directly. In addition, he is major contributor to volunteering in the Wreaths Across America organization. Miles is the epitome of service before self. This shows not only in the community but also on his team. He is an excellent teammate, a hard worker and an exemplary part of the BYH association.
