BYH Looks to provide a safe and fun season

BYH COVID19 GUIDELINES (Revised January 1, 2022

As we continue to try to navigate this strange time and keep our skaters healthy and on the ice, we have updated our guidelines in light of the CDC update recently released.

BYH COVID19 GUIDELINES

In an effort to keep players, coaches and family members safe, Brewer Youth Hockey members will be asked to abide by the following guidelines. All guidelines are subject to change as the Brewer Youth Hockey Board deem necessary to keep our members safe and provide the best opportunity for our players to stay on the ice:

-All players, coaches and spectators are required to wear masks when entering PIA regardless of vaccination status and wear them while in the locker rooms, stands and on the benches. At this time there are no spectator restrictions with regards to the number of spectators allowed in attendance for practices and games.

-Players may take their mask off immediately prior to putting their helmet on, before taking the ice. Players must put their mask back on after exiting the ice surface and taking off their helmet. Coaches must wear masks on the ice and benches.

-Locker rooms will be available at Penobscot Ice Arena but it is asked that coaches and players get ready and leave the locker rooms in a timely manner and not hang out in an effort to limit time in small spaces with each other.  It is recommended that players arrive partially dressed whenever feasible to help facilitate this.  Please pay attention to locker room assignments carefully as we need to be mindful of overcrowding and contact tracing.

-If a player is asked to quarantine as a result of a positive test or being a close contact (CDC Guidelines), parents are required to contact Brewer Youth Hockey President, Paul Pangburn, to coordinate a return to play plan. This will also allow Brewer Youth Hockey to contact trace and notify players or families that may need to quarantine. If a player displays symptoms common with COVID19 as listed below, it is asked that they sit out from participating in BYH activities for 5 days from the positive test and can return to the rink after 5 days if their symptoms have subsided but must wear a mask for 5 additional days. If a players is asked to quarantine as a result of being a close contact, a return to play plan will be formulated following the updated CDC Guidelines (updated December 28th per CDC Guidelines).

COVID19 Symptoms:
Fever or chills
Cough
Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
Fatigue
Muscle or body aches
Headache
New loss of taste or smell
Sore throat
Congestion or runny nose
Nausea or vomiting
Diarrhea

-It is asked that all BYH members abide by BYH guidelines and visiting rink guidelines when playing away games. BYH will do our best to communicate any special guidelines for away rinks before traveling to them.  Families should also check the websites and/or Facebook pages of those organizations and facilities in an effort to be more fully informed.

-BYH will be reviewing these guidelines on an ongoing basis in an effort to keep all members safe and provide the best opportunity for our players to stay on ice.
