Witches Bring Home the Banner from Saint John, New Brunswick

The Brewer Youth Hockey 12U Travel team headed north to Saint John New Brunswick this weekend to participate in the February Freeze Tournament.

On Friday , a goaltending duel saw Brewer fall to the Hampton Huskies 1-0.

Brewer rebounded with two strong wins on Saturday, first defeating Lancaster Minor Hockey 6-1 and followed up with a 7-0 victory over the Fredericton Blues.  The shutout clinched the second seed based on tournament scoring moving into the elimination round.

A familiar foe awaiting the Witches in the first elimination game, the Maine Jr. Black Bears battled hard but dropped a 3-2 decision to Brewer.

The championship game had it all! Brewer went down 2-0 early to a strong Carleton Blue Knights team, but battled back and tied it with 38 seconds remaining in regulation. Overtime periods of 4v4 and 3v3 did not resolve the tie, sending the game into a shootout.

Brewer goalie Natalie Surran made the first two saves, followed by a goal from Henry Boudreau. The third miraculous save by Nat just as the puck trickled behind her sent the crowd and benches into an uproar!

An incredible comeback and overall great weekend for our program!
