What do You Need for Gear?

Learn To Skate / Learn To Play Gear:

Our first concern on the ice is safety below is a list of gear your skater should have. In the beginning young skaters fall a lot we find if they are padded up properly and it does not hurt when they fall they will stick with the program .

* PLEASE NOTE: Due to the rapid growth of this program BYH has a very limited number of rental gear sets available.

NEED:

Hockey Helmet with Cage
Skates
Gloves (winter gloves would be fine)

Recommended:

Elbow pads
Shin Pads
Hockey Pants
Shin Pad covering (hockey socks or sweatpants/snowpants)

Your Learn to Skater does not need full gear, unless he or she is comfortable and wants to wear it. At this age, they are more in need of protection when falling. Having Elbows and knees covered makes it easier to fall and get back up.

If you have special gear requirements contact : vpinstructional@brewerhockey.org.

Brewer Youth has rental gear available .

You may also obtain gear at Gunn's Sport Shop in Brewer.
